A Venetian Holiday Escape

We arrive this day in Venice at the Marco Polo airport (VCE), There are no roads in Venice for vehicles, so we’ll take a private water taxi directly to our hotel. After check‑in, we’ll have a meet and greet at 5:00pm in the lobby of our hotel.  Indiana will discuss the upcoming trip, and then this will be followed by a welcome dinner at a nearby restaurant. Overnight in a charming boutique hotel in Venice. 

Day 2 — ST. Marco Sunrise & Historic Venice

We begin the day early with a sunrise session at Piazza San Marco where soft morning light reveals the square’s architectural beauty before the crowds arrive. We continue to the 9th century Doge’s Palace to explore its grand halls and rich history, then photograph the Bridge of Sighs for an iconic and timeless view.

After our morning photography, we return to the hotel for a late breakfast. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the historic Arsenale and the beautiful Convento dei reverend Padri Francescani, we'll stroll along Via Garibaldi, and end the day with sunset and twilight photography from the Academia Bridge, famous for its sweeping views of the Grand Canal. We start this day with sunrise at the Rialto Bridge, capturing the calm of the Grand Canal in early morning light. After breakfast, we’ll visit Teatro La Fenice, Venice’s legendary opera house known for its ornate interior and cultural significance.

Following lunch, enjoy free time to explore Venice’s intimate alleyways, artisan boutiques, and hidden corners—perfect for personal photography. Conclude the day with sunset from San Giorgio Island looking back at Venice plus capturing the classic silhouette of Basilica Santa Maria della Salute. The view across the lagoon is dramatic. After breakfast, we travel by boat to Burano, the island famous for its brightly painted, multicolored houses and lace‑making heritage. Enjoy a leisurely lunch on the island.

On the return boat ride to Venice we stop at the island of Murano to explore its world‑renowned glassmaking tradition of glass blowing. The most beautiful glass in the world, from chandeliers to objects d’art, is made here. Visit local workshops, photograph artisan studios, and wander the canals before returning to Venice in the late afternoon. Overnight in a charming boutique hotel in Venice. 

After breakfast, our first stop today is the Rialto Market where local vendors bring the city’s culinary traditions to life. We will then enjoy a one‑hour gondola ride through Venice’s canals for a serene and classic photographic experience.

Following lunch, we visit the iconic Blue Door for an award-winning photograph and then the charming Libreria Acqua Alta bookstore, known for its whimsical décor and unique book displays. Behind the bookstore and on a bridge overlooking the juncture of two canals in one of the best architectural shots in Venice. Overnight in a charming boutique hotel in Venice. 

After breakfast, our morning begins with a Venetian cooking class.  This is followed by a hands‑on gelato‑making session (Yum!).  In the afternoon, we’ll  travel around Venice and photograph small canals, wandering through the city’s quiet. hidden corners, perfect for photography.  The is followed by a farewell dinner where we can recount our favorite moments in this magical city. Overnight in a charming boutique hotel in Venice. 

We will enjoy a final breakfast before transferring to the airport for the flight home. We depart from Venice Marco Polo Airport, VCE.
